Art rock / progessive band from Greece .
Back in 2006 and after many years of experimentation (since 1999 under the initial name of Afterglow) with the sounds of 70’s progressive and psychedelic rock, Jargon (composer and writer) created Verbal Delirium. At the same year, the band recorded their first demo album. A very special piece of work in terms of musical composition which was never released to the public.
Influenced both from the alternative and the fundamentally progressive sounds of rock, the band’s 1st official album “So Close & Yet So Far Away” was released in 2010 by the French label Musea Records. The album received very positive feedback by reviewers and it became accessible to progressive audience and fans from all over the world. It was followed by many live performances and a successful participation in European competition “Eurock Marathon 2012” at Berlin.
On February 2013, Verbal Delirium self – released, in Digpak CD and free digital download format, their 2nd official album “From The Small Hours Of Weakness”. Sound-wise, the album, is quite different from the first one and it received even better feedback from the audience and press. It is dark, ambient, experimental and it reveals the band’s tension to explore new musical horizons.
This very musical diversity on both albums gave the chance for Verbal Delirium to participate in important European and Greek live events: Prog Power Europe (October 2013) in the Netherlands with Fates Warning and Shadow Gallery as headlining acts, Summer’s End Festival in UK (September 2014), support act for God Is An Astronaut live in Athens (November 2014).
In 2015 Verbal Delirium began to work on their third album and completed recordings and mixing in early 2016. In the meantime, they continued their live appearances and shared the stage with some of the finest bands the Greek progressive scene has to offer, such as Methexis, POEM, Mother Turtle and Ciccada.
On 7th of October 2016, “The Imprisoned Words Of Fear”, Verbal Delirium’s 3rd album became available worldwide in Digpak CD and digital download format by Bad Elephant Music (UK) records label. The latest instalment in the band’s musical evolution, while still grounded in the Seventies school of progressive rock, incorporates heavier elements from metal, the intricate instrumentation and strong melodic grounding of jazz, along with electronica elements. It was co-produced by Jargon and Leonidas Petropoulos and mastered by Daniel Bowles at Seren Sound Studio.
The band’s immediate plans include a live presentation of the new album in Athens and continuous live appearances for the promotion of their latest work. They are already booked for HRH Prog Festival (Wales) and for Manchester (UK) on 19th and 18th of March respectively. More gigs will soon be announced …
